Marie Sester: L'Architecture du Paradis

January 2-31
Open Tue-Sat 2-6pm Free

For her first one-person exhibition in New York, French new media artist Marie Sester takes viewers on a journey through five ideal cities (Babylon, Jerusalem, Atlantis, New York, Paradise), while exploring urban archetypes that have permeated the Western imagination for centuries. The five-channel video installation features a mesmerizing layering of x-rayed luggage and vehicles, aerial photos and architectural plans, sporadically interrupted by sound and light effects.

Generous support for this project provided by MAT Charitable Foundation.

"...dance that is as impossible to pin down as it is relentless and carefully designed" -The New York Times. Choreographer Miguel Gutierrez and the Powerful People storm The Kitchen with their new evening-length work that explores the effects of terror on the body. Set against a haunting landscape and dense, yet minimal, live electronic vocals, performers emerge as blindfolded and disoriented figures, marauders and conjoined bodies, mapping the aftermath of an event we can only imagine.

Live music for dAMNATION rOAD is made possible with generous support from the Meet the Composer Fund. Funding from MTC is provided with the support of New York State Council on the Arts, NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, ASCAP, Virgil Thomson Foundation, Jerome Foundation, JPMorgan Chase, Mary Flagler Cary Charitable Trust, The Eleanor Naylor Dana Charitable Trust, The Greenwall Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
