Celebrate the 2017–18 season!

By The Kitchen

Jun 11, 2018

Through your support this season, so many artists at The Kitchen have created and presented incredible artwork, both making history and forging new connections with it: from the warped video of Meriem Bennani to the cavernous sound of Camae Ayewa/Moor Mother and Catherine Lamb, and from the legendary chords of The Raincoats to the giant steps of the Jazz Passengers.

And this is to say nothing of an unprecedented performance program celebrating the legacy of Julius Eastman , with an exhibition curated by Tiona Nekkia McClodden; the continually radical choreographies of Sarah Michelson and Stanley Love; and a genre-redefining installation and cabaret by Charles Atlas with Julianna Barwick, The Illustrious Blacks , and IMMA, among so many others. It has been a remarkable season.

Yet even now you can make a crucial impact on our year, as The Kitchen collaborates this month with The Racial Imaginary Institute to present a groundbreaking exhibition reconsidering whiteness in culture, with performances and residencies by Vijay Iyer, Jackie Sibblies Drury, Marguerite Hemmings, Seung-Min Lee, Angie Pittman, and Dark Noise Collective.

At the close of our fiscal year, your tax-deductible contribution in any amount–$5, $50, or more–will enable us to support these artists to the fullest as they do the kind of inspirational work that is urgent for these times.

To thank you, everyone donating $100 or more is invited to our Summer Solstice reception on Thursday, June 21. We hope you can join artists and our other supporters as we gather on The Kitchen's third floor and rooftop!

Also, every individual contributing $500 or more by June 30 will enter a drawing for one signed limited-edition print created by Richard Prince on the occasion of performances by the deeply missed Glenn Branca (1948–2018) and his ensemble at The Kitchen in 2016. This is the last remaining print from the edition. The winning supporter will be notified before July 6.

We cannot thank you enough for all your support today, and hope you will greatly enjoy taking a look at all the highlights from our season that you have already helped make possible.
