(Back) Karen Finley - The Theory of Total Blame November 30-December 3, 1988 Karen Finley returns to The Kitchen with a scathing look at the ritualized repression of family gatherings, depicting an American arena of emotional punishment and searching for a way out. A depiction of emotional disturbance, religious visions and Thanksgiving dinner, the work continues Finley's development of a new “impulse” theater. Appearing with Finley will be Chaz Dean, Carol McDowell, Tom Murrin, Gary Ray and Michael Overn. Wednesday-Saturday 8:30 PM $10 Stephen Petronio December 8-11 and 15-18 Choreographer of Kamikaze ecstasy (London's Time Out) presents the New York premiere of AnAmensia. Performed by his superb ensemble of eight dancers, AnAmensia is fierce, pounding and elegant. Thursday-Sunday 8.30 PM, $10 Robert Longo Saturday, January 7, 1989 8:30 PM $5 Since the beginning of his work in video and film several years ago, artist Robert Longo has successfully shifted his striking visual style across mediums in a series of innovative video clips. Blueblack Collective “Dykes and Fags and Fags and Dykes” Friday/Saturday January 13 and 14, 1989 8:30PM $8 Drawing its members from the AIDS activist group, ACT-UP, performance, and the visual arts, the Blueblack Collective is a theatrical collective which situates its violent scenarios within the political context of the current AIDS crisis. Opposed to the sentimentality of much AIDS-origined theater, the collective employs dense, poetic wordplay, a stark visual style, and a confrontational anger to illuminate the harsh beauty of gay and lesbian culture. Written and directed by Patrick Moore, the current work examines the intense relations between lesbians and gay men during this eight year struggle.
