Invisible Geographies: New Sound Art from Germany

Artist(s): Christina Kubisch, Jan-Peter E.R. Sonntag, Jens Brand, Stefan Rummel

Date: September 9, 2006-October 14, 2006

This exhibition offered a glimpse into the sound art scene in Germany in the early 2000s. Reflecting on Germany’s role as an international center for sound art since the 1970s and the invisible electromagnetic networks and sound waves that inhabit daily life, the artists in this exhibition traced the topography of the audible world. Jens Brand, Christina Kubisch, Stefan Rummel, and Jan-Peter E.R. Sonntag created projects that called attention to the immaterial world of sound, attempting to reveal its physical presence. Invisible Geographies was curated by Christoph Cox.
