As part of the Contemporary Music Series, The Kitchen presented a recital by San Francisco pianist Rae Imamura on September 16, 1980. The event was organized by The Kitchen’s Music Director George Lewis. Imamura played multiple compositions, including Jacques Bekaert’s “The Ghost of Madison” (1979), Lou Harrison’s “3rd Piano Sonata” (written 1938, edited 1980), Gerald Oshita’s “Zen 7B” (1980), and John Bischoff’s “Audio Waves” (1979–1980), in addition to Lewis’s “Second Woodstock Fragment” (1980). A Village Voice review listed Lewis's composition as a “sturdy new work.”
