Family Workshop: Creative Kaleidoscopes

The Kitchen welcomes families of all ages to join us for artmaking programs across 3 Saturdays this fall. Lead by The Kitchen's Teaching Artist, Rosed Serrano, families will create kaliedoscopes inspired by Josiah McElheney's multimedia scupltures. Inspired by the light, color, and shapes of McElheney's work, participants will create a new univers for themselves through their kaliedoscopes.

Family Programs are free with registration. Sign up for a timeslot and come anytime within that slot. Family Programs are on Saturdays September 19, 26, and October 3 with timeslots at 11AM and 12:30PM. The program on October 3 will be co-presented by Artists and Mothers and feature a performance from Cecilia Lopez.

Please Note: Children must be accompanied by an adult. This program will take place in our loft that is currently installed with sculptures most of which make sound. The loft space has twenty-five large windows to provide natural light across the whole gallery.

Entry: RSVP is encouraged and admission is not guaranteed without RSVP. There are stairs or ramp access to an open door marked with The Kitchen's name, behind which there is an elevator accessible to the public. The elevator enters directly into the loft. The gallery will remain open for public gallery hours until 6p after the program. Entry and re-entry is permitted at any time, dependent on capacity, during which the exhibition will remain on view.

Seating: Benches are installed in the gallery space. Seating option available upon request.

Exits: The space can be exited via elevator or stairs that take you to the Bank street courtyard.

Restroom: There are two single restrooms onsite. Restrooms and resting spaces are gender neutral but are not ADA accessible. An ADA bathroom is available for our guest use in the courtyard, just one door down at Greenwich House Center for Older Adults.
